Weekend in court
If by small you dreamed about join a dance among the queens and ladies of the court, your dream may finally become a reality. The Palace of Versailles, for the eighth consecutive year, will host Le Grand Bal Masqué du Château de Versailles, a masked ball, vintage, animated, however, by the music of the dj. The event takes place, to be precise, on the night of June 22, from 23:30 to dawn. You can dance in the Orangery of the Palace, including shows, baroque costumes and wigs of the eighteenth century. The entrance is regulated by a precise dress code, and you’ll have to get tickets (a bit pricey). But what did you expect from the royal Palace the most famous in the world?
Once there, in addition, it is worth to attend to another show that’s truly unique: the Fountains Night Show. Throughout the summer, in fact, every Saturday and Sunday – up to 27 October – the Gardens of Versailles come alive with a magical visual and musical performance. Go to the Fountain of the Mirror and get ready to see fantastic games of water to the rhythm of the music. All the information about times and tickets can be found here.
When you think about the relax, there is nothing more satisfying than a nice weekend at the spa. And what would you say to opt for the ones Saturnia? This is one of the complex, the spa largest in Italy and known all over the world. The sulphurous water, originating from a single source, flows at a constant temperature of 37.5 degrees and pours a waterfall in the various tanks.
In addition, to ensure the utmost comfort, you may decide to stay at the Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort. A real oasis of relaxation with four outdoor thermal pools, spa treatments and whirlpools.
Two days immersed in the spectacular landscape of the Dolomites – UNESCO world heritage – and the green of the surrounding woods. Can you imagine something more romantic? Us: a ride in a boat – in pairs – on the lake alpine Braies, on whose surface are mirrored the mountains in the distance.
This picturesque lake ofHigh Pustaria, at the foot of the Croda del Becco, has a legend really impressive: it is said, indeed, that on its southern shore you would find the entrance to the legendary Kingdom of Fanes.
Boats can be rented on the place. Just go to the stilts of wood and, from here, venture out on a romantic rowing boat, letting yourself be cradled by the water.
Weekend at the sea
As a beach resort, our choice falls on Procida. This small island in shades of pastel – located in the Gulf of Naples, is the ideal destination for a pleasant weekend of June. The reasons are many. First of all there is to say that the islands, in general, have a fascination irresistible. Another reason is undoubtedly the local cuisine, the neapolitan, considered to be among the best in the world.
And then the art: on the island of Procida is the setting for the novel, Arturo’s island, one of the most beautiful books of the writer Elsa Morante. Without forgetting The postman of Troisi, with many scenes filmed on the island.
But Procida has much more to offer. With respect to the emblazoned Capri and Ischia, in fact, the beauty of this island lies in its authenticity. A small fishing lodge where you can immerse yourself in the azure sea, take boat trips and explore small streets sprinkled with lemon.
Our advice is to rent a bicycle with assisted pedalling – the island is full of ups and downs – in one of the many cycle repair shops, located in Marina Grande (the main port) and then ride to discover the beauty of the island. A mandatory stop is the Marina of Corricella, a small village of fishermen from the coloured houses that has become the symbol of the place – also thanks to the film of Benigni. Then the village of Terra Murata, the refuge of procida during the raids of the saracens.
Such as beaches, instead, we recommend the ones of Ciraccio, the Chiaia and of the Chiaiolella, in addition to the beach of Pozzo Vecchio, also the set of The Postman.
Weekend at high altitude
For this trip in the mountains we bring to you in Trentino. More precisely between the frames beautiful of the Dolomites, in Val di Fassa, surrounded by the Group of the Catinaccio and Sassolungo. Here every year takes place the music festival Sounds of The Dolomites, with internationally renowned musicians who perform at high altitude, “in the extraordinary natural theatres”.
It is a unique event in its genre, where you can attend concerts of classical music in wild places and stay in a beautiful hideaway.
All of this without neglecting the side’s most adventurous: to reach the locations of each concert, you must first perform of the trekking routes. If you are interested in this type of holiday, we recommend you consult the complete program of the festival, to choose the date that fits your tastes. Us to June, we recommend ‘ three days‘ (28-30) that will see the cellist Giovanni Sollima perform at the side of Avi Avital, the first soloist of the mandolin to have received a nomination for the Grammy Award. All the information here.
Weekend in nature
The amalfi Coast is famous throughout the world for the sea and the beautiful towns of Positano and Amalfi, which each year attract millions of tourists and vip. Not everyone knows, however, that this stretch of coast has more to offer for lovers of nature and walking.
The path Of the gods is the ancient road that once connected the various small villages of the coast – before the Bourbon built the current highway.
Today it is a hiking trail – considered one of the most beautiful in the world – which runs a long the amalfi Coast and sorrento peninsula. About 10 km walk panoramic on the Lattari Mountains, with points overlooking the sea where you can admire the beauty of the coast and the island of Capri in the distance.
The starting point is to Bomerano (fraction of Agerola), and the arrival is Nocelle (a fraction of Positano). A curiosity: according to legend, this road was travelled by the Greek gods to save Odysseus by the sirens. Its name derives from this mythological story.
Always in close proximity to the path Of the gods there is the Valle delle Ferriere: a protected natural area where, at one time, were located in the ferriere, the ancient maritime Republic of Amalfi, active in the production of nails for the boats.
It is a unique place to walk – about an hour’s walk from Amalfi: inside you will find waterfalls and water courses, and guests can walk while enjoying the fresh nature.
Waterfalls in the high, 165 metres high, the statues from the monstrous appearance and castles esoteric: if you love fantasy, this latest draft of the weekend may be your choice.
L’Umbria, in fact, boasts some beautiful landscapes and villages really spectacular, that seem to come directly from the mind – and from the pen of George R. R. Martin or J. R. R. Tolkien.
One of these is the Scarzuola, a place that is almost impossible to label, to the borders between the magic and the esoteric. This complex, elaborate staircases and buildings similar to the castles located in the municipality of Montegabbione. Its the same creator, Tommaso Buzzi – architect and artist – described it as “a flight of fancy petrified” of which, however, did not end the construction was finished by his great-grandson Marco Solari.
Today the property consists of 7 theatres (the theatre of the Water, the teatrino delle Api theatre, the theatre of Apollo, the theatre of Diana, the great Open-air theatre, the theatre of the human Body and the theatre of the Tower of loneliness), and 7 reproductions of famous monuments, that is, the Parthenon, the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the Arch of Triumph, the Bell Tower, the Pyramid and the Temple of Vesta.
Not far from here – about an hour and a half by car – lies the Cascata delle Marmore. Located in the province of Terni – in Valnerina, inside a natural park, is the highest waterfall in Italy and one of the highest in Europe. The total drop of 165 m, from the top of the water course takes a leap of spectacular, which is divided into 3 jumps and is able to excite both children and adults.
With the last stage, in fact, we leave the region of umbria to join Lazio in province of Viterbo. We are referring to Park of monsters of Bomarzo , which is, however, just a 45 minutes drive from the waterfall. Built in 1547, was commissioned by the prince Pier Francesco Orsini , and designed by Pirro Ligorio, well-known to have finished St. Peter, following the death of Michelangelo.
Just as the Scarzuola, also the Park of Bomarzo seems steeped in an atmosphere unreal and dreamlike. Almost nightmarish. The monstrous, grotesque and enigmatic stone statues that populate the garden project visitors in an altered reality between the impossible architectures – such as the house tilted – and the figures depicting monsters, gods, and mythological animals.
In fact, it seems that the Prince had commissioned in memory of his deceased wife, Giulia Farnese. Perhaps to relieve his pain, as revealed by the engraving “only to vent the heart”. Or, perhaps, like the stages of a strange journey alchemy:
Voi che pel mondo gite wandering vague to see meraviglie alte et stupende come here, where the son faces horrende, elephants, lions, ogres et dragons.
You want a weekend of adrenaline and unbridled fun? Then your ideal destination is Gardaland.
The playground largest and most famous of Italy, in fact, the 15 June celebrates Gardaland Notte Bianca – The White Party and is tinged with lights and colors, transforming into a real nightclub under the stars. You can get about the sights the most exciting and dance until 1am, thanks to the different music stations located in different areas of the park. Or, again, watch the fireworks and the overwhelming parades. All between the hours of 18:00 to 1 night and with a single rule: be dressed in white.
What do you think? Here is a video to prepare for the event.
